Some Honorable Customer feedback on Tankless Water Heater:
For the first time in years, my wife was able to take a hot bath! Previously, she could fill up half a tub and then the hot water would run out!
It states it can support up to 5 simultaneous showers, and a dishwasher, but we have only tested to two baths, and we have been delighted. It is definitely worth the cost!
Installed this last week. Very happy so far. I introduced dedicated return line and now get hot water at faucets in 6 seconds when it used to take 30 seconds. The unit is surprisingly quiet. Significantly quieter than the Navian installed in my in-law’s house.
I do not write reviews, but I have to for the Rinnai RUR98iN. I was an early adopter of tankless water heaters. I originally purchased a Bosch in 2005 it because we have five children in the house and the cost to run a 75-gallon electric water heater was insane. It finally gave out this year, so I replaced that with the Rinnai RUR98iN. My wife had always complained about the tankless water heater and some of the challenges that come with them (hot water sandwich, length of time to get water). I live in Wisconsin where the inlet temperature of the city water is 36 degrees (no joke, I checked). I live in a ranch home with the water heater at one side of the basement. It took nearly 3 minutes even to get hot water to the furthest bathroom. I do not think my high-efficiency clothes washer has ever used hot water (not for lack of selecting hot). There are some constitutional changes that we as consumers have to make when you install a tankless or so I thought! I purchased the RUR98iN with a dedicated circulation line, and all of those issues are gone. I now have hot water to any faucet in 3 seconds (timed it), The hot water does not shut off when the valve is an open half way. My water consumption has decreased by 50% because I do not have to wait for it to warm up. The RUR98 is the only tankless that I have been able to find with a built-in circulation pump. No more complaints from the family. Here are my tips! 1) Read the manual even when someone else is installing. Some installers do not know that there are internal switch settings on the device that need to be reviewed for your specific installation (vent tube length, altitude, etc…). 2) Ensure you install a 2.5-gallon expansion tank and back-flow valves when you install a dedicated circulation line. In my area, it is building code but it acts as a surge protector does for your computer and protects your equipment.
